Mauser P.08 â??Kâ?� Date S/42 Navy

I have posted some of my navies on this forum. Some good discussion has been the result of some of these postings, especially the P.04 '06 Conversion. The subject of pristine vs. "salty" historic relic did come up. I expressed my opinion that I prefer a little "salt".

I had the opportunity and honor of displaying some of my Navies at the last SE NAPCA Convention in August 2007 with Leo "Butch" Lavallee's magnificent P.04 collection. The theme was rare and scarce Navies and the following is one Navy that I had displayed.

Mauser P.08 â??Kâ?� Date S/42 Navy S/N 2408. Eagle over â??Mâ?� engraved on left frame panel and â??O.1876â?� (Marinestation der Ostsee) property number lengthwise on the front grip strap. This gun was one of 13 reported to Stillâ??s â??Third Reich Lugers and Accessoriesâ?�, 1988. There was estimated 300 K Date variation Luger procured by the Kriegsmarine. This piece has been damaged by â??blood rustâ?�. One must remember that these weapons were used in war and like most wartime equipment they were used and used with little regard to being kept pristine. â??It is what it is!â?�

Joe, A magnificent piece of history! Thanks for sharing with the membership. I would rather have one in this condition than nothing. Truly a rare one...I appreciate the accoutrements as much as anything..Any chance of a closeup of the tool & rod?

Unmatched K date "B90" magazine. It's just a mag well filler but at least it's in the right time frame.

P.S. Sorry it's a little on the yellowish tinted side. If I used the flash, I couldn't get the stamp. Using a light box and photoshop software. Ed Tinker advised on my last posting it took him 10 photos to get one he liked. I want to go to bed so this will have to do. LOL! :roflmao:

Outstanding pictures (even the yellowish one). Great unit and acceptance marked navy Luger. Of course there is evidence of "salt" on your navy, it was carried or stored on or near the ocean. Shows that this weapon was used, not kept secured in a desk drawer or some storage bin.

Congratulations on Navy along with the tool, cleaning rod and box. I was lucky enough to come across one and appreciate seeing others. My magazine is also non-matching but correct. I checked on the off chance that my magazine might match your K date, but no luck. Thanks for posting the photos.
