Replacement Magazine Bottom
 

Help! I need a replacement magazine bottom piece (black plastic).

The plastic bottom piece of the magazine broke at the range while I was trying to insert the 8th round. The magazine is a standard post-war Interarms blued tube with a black plastic bottom.
Does anyone know of a source for such parts? Thanks, John

You can send the magazine to member GT and he can fit it with either wood or aluminum bottoms of his own manufacture. They are the finest bottoms available. He also sells superior magazine springs that he makes himself. Might as well have him drop one of those in at the same time.

John, I do have new Franzite BPBs that closely resemble the original Mauser bottom, but with only one hole drilled, so you will have to drill the front one, @$15 + $3 S&H. I will be introducing some perfectly made repro BPBs for the center pinned FXO mags at the Louisville show the end of this month. Introductry price drilled with pin @$35 or undrilled, if you have a drill press and perfer to "do it yourself" @$30. Thanks, guys. I did want to keep the pair of magazines that came with the pistol looking exactly alike.

I still wonder why the bottom broke. I was forcing the last round in the magazine, and I had the bottom resting on a cloth towel. Could the spring have been too long? or a pre-existing flaw in the plastic? Why would it have been so tight?

I'm not sure about yours, but some after market mags hold only 7 rounds.

Hi:

If you don't have one already, buy yourself a Luger loading tool and use it as instructed in your Parabellum instruction manual.

You shouldn't have to force the 8th round into the magazine, and should certainly not rest the base on a towel or anything else when loading the magazine.

The after market 7 round magazines are bull**** and should be avoided (my opinion only).

If you get the black plastic bottom from Tom Heller, get one of his replace GT springs at the same time. It will improve your magazine function. Your previous bottom probably had a hidden crack from being mishandled or dropped somewhere in its carrer. It may also have already been stuck back together and the flaw did not become apparant until you actually used it.
