I have a '29 DWM which is H.P. marked. I have read the excellent posts concerning these guns & the ground stock lugs, which mine has and appears to be done around the time the gun was used in thw Weimar era. The gun is all matched including the magazine , however I see no numbers on either the firing pin or breechblock. Does this indicate an armourer's replacement or something else? Also, what is the significance of "S/42 " on the bottom of the aluminum bottom magazine? thanks MC

S/42 is a armorers replacement magazine

I would expect to see the firing pin and breechblock to be numbered, but Dwight Gruber did a survey a while ago that showed certain police guns did not have a number, but I am unsure if this is the models discussed....

Michael,

My numbering survey only included a handful of Alphabet Commercials and 29DWM, but those samples indicate that numbering the breechblock and firing pin was inconsistent. Personally, I wouldn't be concerned about your gun.

Do I have your H.P. marked Luger's details in the H.P. database?

I thank you gents for a quick & informative reply, as always. I think you do ( from Jan's website) but "Sicher ist Sicher": A '29 DWM, sn 7445 u. Commercial style numbering on the sideplate, take down lever. All the numbers match, but nothing on the inside of the grips. There is a sear safety & a clipped magazine safety. It is stamped H.P. 135 on the front grip strap and on the right side of the receiver toward the front. It is stamped "H.P. 134" on the magazine spine; the aluminum bottom magazine has the same number 7445 and a "2" ( the spare) & S/42. As still suggests in his book it is a nicely finished gun- the only real blue wear is on the grip straps. The stock lug is neatly ground similar to the pictures in the Don Maus article. I'm still learing with the camera. She shoots & handles beautifully; I bought three others before the end of 2007 a Widow, an 06 AE & an Artillery- regards & thanks- Michael

Yep, it's in the database, thanks very much for the confirmation.
