Hello please take a look at this picture and let me know what is wrong

It is right. It is a safety device installed on police Lugers and is designed to drop down when the side plate is removed when disassembling the gun. The forward end of the spring has a pin that drops into a hole in the sear bar keeping it from being depressed and preventing accidental discharge if there is a round in the chamber. I guess the thinking was that the police were dumb enough to break down a loaded pistol.

Thanks for the info. i didnt remember seeing it flop around when i pulled side plate off. i have added more pictures of this on another thread.
and would take all information i can get.

Ron,
not only are some dump enought to break down a loaded gun, but I have had to do repairs on a shot gun because they loaded the shells in the tube the wrong way and tried to cycle the gun.

scares the hell out of me
