unusual barrel marking?
Hello:
Went to a gun show this weekend and looked at a 1913 dwm in pretty good condition. On the bottom of the barrel above the serial number was Bo24 with an umlaut over the o. Has anyone seen this marking? Thanks |
This is on a very few 1913-1916 military lugers. These barrels were made from steel supplied by Bohler Steel Co. The numbers are hardness. Bill

Thanks Bill, I am aways impressed by the depth of information that folks on this forum have. I appreciate the information.
Is a luger with the Bo24 barrel stamp worth more than one with out it? If so, any idea what kind of a premium it is worth?
I don't believe that the Bohler marking imparts any special extra value to the pistol.
Question--does that stamp on the barrel take away any value? I have a 1917 Luger with that stamp on the 6" barrel.
In my opinion, the marking does not add or detract from the value of a Luger, it just identifies the origin of the steel in the barrel. It may also identify B¶hler as the subcontractor that manufactured the barrel, I'm not too sure on that point.
