1917/20 LP 'N 1155'.

Just collected this Artillery.

The previous owner had it since Liberation '45, he lifted it from the rear of a requestioned car, it's original owner clearly had no further use for it.

Matching other than magazine, serial #1054 b;last 2 digits appear on all parts, sights etc.. I observe a kregsmarine marking on the rear frame of 1155 N.

Is there any information I could share with the previous owner regarding the Naval markings?

The holster toe is very worn, brass tipped rod exists, holster is marked S.D.N.1151.

Greetings,
Very interesting and nice artillery. Click on this link or put it in search for an extensive discussion of a similar navy marking.

My first shooter arrived today; need help with unit markings

A very nice Kriegsmarin/Reichsmarin LP08. I would very much appreciate a photo of the back of the holster.

Any proof mark on the rod? Very nice rig.

these LP-08s are facinating; the holster with the RM proof is the hard part. Congrats on a great score.

Holster's had some period alterations (previous owner had it for 60 plus years as is) made between manufacture & '45.

What is the relevance of the Navy stamping?
Would it have rec'd these markings at assembly or later?

I'd wish to add some flavour - if there's a story to tell.

Holster marking

The RM stamps were applied at either the issuing werft or at the unit (Naval station/vessel) where the piece was assigned. They were NEVER applied by the manufacturer.

I'm not into Navy unit marks, but I believe that SDN1151 is Seebattalion Danzig Nordsee 1151. Holster unit marks are often done in a different format than weapon unit marks. So I may be completely wrong. I just like unit marked Lugers and holsters.

Here is a Wiemar Navy marked brass tip rod that would go good with your rig.
