Vertical belt loops were period added to original artillery

luger holsters but as Ron has stated this holster is not

original WW1 era.

Any time a seller adds Armor-all to their items - I run the other way!

Holster's a Paki p-o-s and the stock is very questionable. Examine steel to wood fit.

No disagreement...vertical belt loops can/have been added to authentic holsters.

But not in this low position and not with the upper mounting-block still in place.

The converted ones I have seen have the new vertical loops (usually two of them) added in the place where the mounting block has been removed.

Bob, Could you shoot me a photo of that? I have seen stock blocks swiveled to make a belt loop but never a seperate one below the stock block.

I emailed 3 pictures to Jerry Burney of my 1914 Artillery holster with a single

added belt loop .It also shows the leather button added to the flap for

the closure strap. He has asked Ed to post them.

Jerry: The holster I have sent you to be restitched is like the one under discussion, only it is for a 4" Luger. Marked on back: Hans Romer. 1915. Gorgeous holster, not a rework, but has the same unusual configuration of straps on the back. Once you get it,pls tell me what you think. Have not seen another one like it.

Can you tell us if the dark-colored stitching on the added belt-loop on your holster is period-correct thread or a more modern-day material ?

Your holster cannot certainly be confused with the Paki-POS specimen that Nick asked about in his opening post.

Bob, Pete...The thread is the only thing I questioned about this belt loop addition. It looks a little shiney and not like linen. It should be blacklighted. The extra loop looks like a period addition on an original holster. Very well done and much like it should be. The thread is the only thing I did question....

Pete, yes and no...the seller sent me a photo of the closure strap..it seems to me very strange, even if it is "walz" stamped...

The metal of the stock iron on the eBay offering may have been re-blued at some time as well.

Don't you usually want to see "halo" on the stampings of the SN on the iron ? Also...very little rust/patina on the iron but lots of rust down in the slot of the screw.
