1940 Luger Holster

This is especially for Jerry Burney. I read something on the message Board about "all those hard shell holsters we see so often." I have a 1940 Karl Bocker holster with Nazi eagle and proof of waA195. This is a very hard holster. Should I be worried about it being a fake/ I got it at Simpson's in Galesburg IL. Thanks.

Well, I am not Jerry Burney, so apoligize for answering.

Can you quote where you saw / heard the phrase "hard shell holsters...." I hear that for P38, but not for luger holsters.

Why would yours be fake? Does it look like a fake?

William, Many molded original holsters have a nice shape and are hard. I would need a lot more information to determine it's authenticity.

Did Simpson's sell it to you as an original? How much did you pay? If Simpson's said it was original I wouldn't necessarily worry too much about it. I don't believe they would intentionally cheat anyone.

If you would like to send me a photo or post one or two on the Forum I can tell you for sure.
I like to see the full back and one of the front with the top open.

Jerry,
Thanks for your reply. Simpson's said it was an original. I'll try to send photos if I can figure out how to do it. I paid $700 for it. It looks to be in excellent condition (which made me wonder). I then saw a 1941 holster that looked quite good for $400. I called Simpson's but they weren't much help except assuring me that they would not sell me a repro. I'm such an amateur at collecting that I worry about being taken in. Thanks.

To edward Tinker,

No need to apologize. I can use all the help I can get. Thanks. It doesn't look fake, but it's in great condition, so I wonder.

To Edward Tinker,

I can't find the reference to hard shell holsters. Sorry.

William, Ed..I think the difference is that P-38's also had a soft shell. Lugers do not and therefore the reference to hard and softshell for P-38 but not Luger.
I have no doubt that Simpson's sold you an original holster. The 1942 date apparently commands a hefty premium.
