My guns empire is growing. This is my "new" collection submachine Thompson M1A1. I think it's original WWII, if is original, this Thompson was came in Croatia during WWII like US support to partisans. Also, I have two original boxes .45 ACP from 1943. On the right side is: AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION, BRIDGEPORT CONNECTITUT. USA. On the tleft side: THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN CALIBER .45 M1. Is this original WWII, and do you know value of this Thompson M1A1?

looks like a nice Thompson, does it work? Not sure why you are asking value, didn't you just buy it?

There is a huge fundemental difference of value / cost from inside the USA to outside; for one reason, our laws are different in pistol ownership (say compared to Canada) and completely different for sub-machineguns outside the USA...

I always assume what folks are asking is; if I had to buy this in the USA, what would it cost me? But unless you are planning on attending some USA gun shows, then shipping home, not sure what a USA value does for anyone outside the USA ;)

The gun cannot be legally imported unless the importer figures out how to get Congress to amend the May 19, 1986 Gun Owner's Protection Bill that forbade manufacture, import, traffic and possession of any fully automatic weapon not listed in the National Firearms Registry as of 2400 hours May 19, 1986.

The esteamed Mr TAC is correct in his estimate of purchase price in the USA.
Were it in the USA and legally registered, it would be considered a Curio and Relic which tends to add a premium of 10-15% to the value of any transferrable automatic weapon. At the Chantilly show this past weekend, West Hurley AO guns, now classed as C&R due to very limited production, were going for $16, 000.

Well, when you talk about the ownership of machine guns in America, you need to look at the federal laws as well as the individual state laws. Some states prohibit the ownership of a machine gun (a Class III weapon) and some do not. In some states it is fairly easy. In Nebraska, for example, there are over 1,500 machine guns which are legally owned by private citizens. Myth: â??Private Citizens canâ??t own machine guns & silencersâ?�

Truth: Any Nebraska citizen that can legally own a handgun can own an NFA weapon.

Myth: â??You have to have some kind of special Class 3 license to own NFA weapons.â?�

Truth: No special license is needed to own these weapons. The registration process is a simple one page tax form (ATF form 4) that needs to be filed with the BATF.

Myth: â??It can take 6 months to a year to get your ATF form 4 approvedâ?�

Truth: In the old days when the ATF was run by the department of the treasury, transfers did take an exceedingly long time. However in recent years the ATF has been handed over to the Justice Department and is now run by a younger more professional staff that is truly there to help expedite the transfer process. Now transfers typically take 3 to 6 weeks tops.

Myth: â??You have to pay $200 a year to keep a NFA weaponâ?�

Truth: You pay a one time tax of $200. You never have to pay that tax again on that weapon. You can will it to your heirs and they will never have to pay the tax.

After WWII Yugoslav Army and Milicija used Thompson Submachine. In 1956 Yugoslav arms factorx made machine M56, 7,62 x 25 mm, it looks like MP 40. In Croatia on Collection licence we can have automatic weapon, but barrel must be plugged. I mean automatic and semiautomatic weapon who is not officary armament of police and military force. This Thomspon have plugged barrel, and you cant use them. Many collectors have Thompson, MP 40, MG 42, PPÃ?Â*, PPD, Degtarjev.

Mr. CROLUGER, that is one fine looking and authentic Tommy gun! One of my personal favorites and one I wish I could afford to purchase. One day, perhaps... :)

I haven't seen a Thompson go for less than $15,000 in the past year, though I admit I don't follow every one I see for sale. A buddy of mine just bought one (a very nice 1928) for $29,000. He got it because it had an authentic violin case of the type used by gansters. It must be nice it have his money... :)

Also, as I recall, it's not that difficult to replace the bbl on those... :D

A question...

I know the original Thompsons were made in Bridgeport, CT . Are the West Hurley's original, or the current made ones?
