Photos of Suffixes

1 Attachment(s)
Under "Technical Information" here on the Forum, if you go to "Markings" you will see: Photo Examples of Suffixes. (Courtesy of Ed T.). Only the letters a and b are shown. Was there ever a complete photo list of all the letters? Are photos of all the letters available?
This would be a big help for us collectors trying to identify the different markings. Any guesses on this 41 byf suffix? Maybe y or u or a q missing the top?

I haven't updated the suffix listing in 3 or 4 years and it works, but not like it should. I have been thinking I should mess with it and trying to update it. That said, I am no suffix expert and is why I put it together and ONLY with so many other forum members such as Frank and others who provided pictures and what the suffix was.

That said, I beleive this is a "y" on this byf 41.

My guess would be a q with the top poorly struck. And this is based on the fact that I was right once last year. Bill

Tom,
Right above the photo examples of suffixes, are 2 suffix charts that are hand drawn. Not perfect, but very close to original, and very helpful.
I think Bill is right again this year, ;) (q) with the top poorly struck.

Mike,
I have 4 hand drawn lists here at home plus I have seen the two suffix charts on the Forum. I use these frequently but there ain't nothing like the real thing! It is also interesting to see the different variations of each letter year by year.
The g vs q, the p vs r, and minor variations in the other letters are always faking me out!

Tom,
I know what you mean. I have a luger with a (p) suffix, and wasn't sure if it was a (p) or an (r) until I was directed to the suffix charts.
