38H grips
 

Guys....... I know........ don't laugh.......... : ) I'm looking for a set of 38h grips in decent condition...... The vet took them off to put a set of magnifcent clear ones made from a ( what he said ) Messerschmitt windshield ) with pictures of his girlfriend underneath. They look like factory made..... and he doesn't remember what he did with the original set. It's a nice eagle F 3rd variation with the extra mag and pigskin holster. If you can"t find any original grips Numrich Gun Parts Corporation sells some repros. Website e-GunParts.com. Perhaps Tom Heller (lugerdoc) from this forum has some. Bill

This site has two listings for Sauer 38h grips at different prices. Can't tell, maybe one is original, one repro?

Of course...to each his own, but i would keep the GI grips on. They have more history and a story to tell!
Then you can take your time to find an original set and keep them with the gun.

Here's a PIC of my HSC with clear GI grips. I do have a original set but can't get myself to replace the ones that have been on there for 60 years!

Nomadr - Can't imagine why you would want to replace those grips with mere originals! I mean, that's ART man!

I have heard of soldiers making various items from the windscreens of airplanes that didn't need them anymore. It was called Perspex or Plexiglas. I have always supposed that the attraction was that the material was pretty exotic at the time, so it was cool to have things made from it, and also that it was reletively easy to work with with common tools, unlike glass for example.

HMMMMM............. maybe you're right........ I'm keeping the glass ones anyway just to keep the gun's history intact. Your scan is great and that's what made the decision for me. I'm still gonna look for some originals though.... the next owner will have his choice....... thanks for your input..

Also.....the back on one of the pictures says " GLAMOR GIRLS " of stage and films. A series of 54, # 35. MARGOT LINDER. A series of photographs now being issued with these cigarettes. CARRERAS LTD. ENGLAND. SINCE 1789. How about that for some history ? I'll post some scans a little later...
