Stoeger 22 cal Luger in this size?
I just got a Stoeger 22 cal Luger. The pistol is in great shape with the bore in excellent shape. However, while buying it I notced the barrel looked longer than the other Stoeger 22 cal Lugers I have.
Upon measuring the new one from breach to end, it is 5 1/2" while my other two are 4 1/2". In general the new 5 1/2" Stoeger Luger looks a little larger then my other two. I did not know the Stoeger Lugers come with 5 1/2" barrel nor that some are larger. Is this normal/correct? Anyone know? Any help is greatly appreciated. |
Warren,
I do know they come with 5 1/2 " barrels, but I don't know about being bigger. Have you measured it? It could just be an optical illusion, because of the longer barrel. Mike C. |
And Bless you for trying.;)

I have one of these too. It is a beautiful gun, and even came in its own fitted cherry wood presentation case. It works perfectly as long as you don't try to shoot it more than one time.

He may never be allowed to join the diplomatic corps <grin>, but Tac is right. There is nothing kind to be said about these guns. They reach the apex of their quality and appeal when you don't own one.

'Alas" I to am the unfortunate owner of one of these. In the box with spare magazines "Looking hard to sell" This one works. About all I can say about them that's good. Won't some Kind shooter take this "Prize" off my hands. Trade , Sell, Help....!

For Mike C. Yes the pistol is the same size as the other Stoeger 22's I have. The longer barrel gives it the impression that the entire pistol is larger. Additionally, this one has an attachement of some type on the rear of the pistol for the rear sight. I have no knowledge of what this is but since it came with the pistol, and is part of the sighting, I plan to leave it.
In checking the Stoeger 22 cal's for sale I have not seen the 5 1/2" barrel being mentioned. Are they this uncommon? Thanks for all the answers I received. This site is great and has the best people on it. I feel comfortable asking any "dum" question and getting a correct answer. By the way, I have not shot the 5 1/2" yet, but the 4 1/2" I have shoots great. Thanks again everyone. |
Hi Warren,
Mine shoots great too. I've put thousands of rounds through it. Extremely accurate and never a malfunction. Maybe you and I have the only two good ones. ;) My guess is that the rear sight attachment is probably for an adjustable sight, but I haven't seen one before for a 22 Stoeger. There are fewer 5 1/2" barrels, but not really rare. Mike C. |
Went to the firing range Saturday, Oct 20, and fired the Stoeger 5 1/2" and Stoeger 4 1/2." Both were just purchased and had not been shot by me. Wow, they fired great. No jams, no problems.
I am very fortunate that all three Stoeger 22cal Lugers I have work so good. They are certainly a joy to shoot. I wish others had the same experience. |
