Gold Plated Walther P38 - Help
I was curious if anyone here would know anything about this Walther I just picked up. It came along with a wooden box, a medal (1813 & 1913) and a shiny swastika.
I have a small description of it and about 35+ pictures of it on my website: http://rezzguns.com/Content/Inventor...altherP38.html http://rezzguns.com/Content/Inventor...8/Thumbs/3.jpg http://rezzguns.com/Content/Inventor...8/Thumbs/9.jpg http://rezzguns.com/Content/Inventor.../Thumbs/24.jpg http://rezzguns.com/Content/Inventor.../Thumbs/26.jpg |
Well first you EK2 (Iron Cross Second Class) has the wrong ribbon. It has a Ost Front medal ribbon which is the russian front medal. That is odd, the metel swastika looks uneven and hand made. I would not say that is war time. Just someone trying to make a nazi theme.
The P38 is interesting, probably post war gold plated... but I don't know. I am not an expert. |
I kind of like the gold. They did a good job on the plating.
It is post war plated because the gun is a post war gun about 57/58. Jerry |
Must be another one of "Old Uncle Hermans" pistols
|
If you want to get rid of the 2nd class iron cross, send me a PM
And yes I agree, very nice job on the P38 |
Jerry is quite right, this is a postwar P38 manufactured in Ulm (West-Germany at the time) in the late 1950's, and so has no association with WW2 or Iron crosses. In addition, I believe Walther did not offer a factory plated option other than on their engraved pistols, so it is unfortunately likely to be a custom job.

Is your tortoise dead?

I thought tortises came with their own caskets..sort of built in. Jerry Burney

I don't think its deep enough for a tortoise, as the smallest tortoiesee are big aren't they?
oh, lord, there we go going off on a tanget  |
wow, and he's still alive? **see previous reply by Tac** This sounds like premeditated tortisee annulment
