What is this zig-zag for?

Obviously a cleaning end, but for what? It would not fit down the end of a 8mm Mauser barrel?

its about 2 1/2 - 3 inches long, has a small diameter screw in for a smaller rod.

the loading tool is to give a perception of the size;

This would appear to be an extention for the Swiss pocket sized luger cleaning kit. TH

Ed,

I do not think it is Swiss.

1. The "zig zag" is much different on the Swiss tools and not really a zig-zag pattern, at all.

2. The Swiss piece usually is the piece that screws on to the end of the rod extentions and goes into the barrel first (with a cleaning patch).

This looks like a "coupling" that has other pieces screwing into both end of your brass piece.

Might this brass piece be part of a cleaning kit for a Borchardt ???

Pete and Tom, I am not sure. Bill gave it to me to include in the raffle and I've included it in the listing. It is heavy and heavy duty, it would not fit down the rifle of a K98, so that shows how large it is. It does not show well, but at the top it has a patch holder / patch slot for patches, so from my experience it has to be larger bore than the metal rod with gunk and a patch.

my answer, hmmm, I don't know!
