1937 S/42 Strange Proof markings

Hello everyone, I just bought my first luger, It's a 1937 S/42 luger. It was a bring back i was told. It has some strange markings of a bomb and L stamped 6 times throughout the pistol. and caliber marking on the barrel. i dont know anything about it and cant seem to find any info regarding these proofs. It's a very nice matching number luger other then the blood stained bluing. It is also not Nazi marked it has the old style german bird markings on the right side of the pistol. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i would like some history on it. Thanks everyone.

Tom,

I'm not an expert, but I believe it is a Belgian proof/acceptance mark.

The L stands for Liege. Possibly a post war reissue to the Belgian military. These are not too common.

Maybe Joop will see this and correct or confirm my guess.

Ron, You are correct. Post 1925 Belgian proofing required on Foreign made guns. TH

Guys,
Thank's for the help on that proof mark. I couldn't seem to find any in my searches. You think Luger's with this proof are some what rare and collectable?
When I took it apart and cleaned the pistol the insides are like new, even the bore on the barrel is like new. I really dont think this Luger was shot very much at all. I just wish the out side bluing was as nice.
