Very Stupid Question
 

My question is so stupid I am going to remain anonymous. Please tell me again how to decock a Luger without snapping the trigger.

A Very Simple Operation
 

WITH THE GUN UNLOADED and no magazine installed! -Pull the toggle back just enough to remove the tension on the sear, lower the toggle with the trigger in the pulled position.

Greetings ANON,

Lift toggle asd if to open the breech.

Do not open far enough to move the cannon assembly backward.

Examine the opened breech to assure that chamber is empty

Empty if not !!! If empty,

Pull Trigger and lower toggle.

This should do it.

That is really funny. What someone considers a stupid question! I didn't know you could uncock the Luger without pulling the trigger!


I would ahve seen the question and said, "Oh, thats an interesting question..."

even the Dok was stumped by this one his first time out. So you can come out of hiding now and say "Hello"

It is nice that there is a way to decock the Luger without dry firing it and possibly damaging the firing pin. The type 14 Nambu has a much more fragile firing pin and, as far as I know, no way to decock it but to dry fire it. I guess that is why they issued them with a spare firing pin. (Hopefully someone will tell me I am wrong and there is a way).

I do not know if there is a proper way to decock a Nambu or not. I have been attaching a pencil eraser to the end of a cleaning rod and holding it through the barrel up against the bolt to decock mine. This may not be glamorous, but it works for me.

when all else fails, there's always snap caps. But can you even get them for a Nambu? I like the eraser idea!

John, I'm afraid that your solution will not work, as the sear will not move when the trigger is pulled when out of battery and the disconnector will rest against the trigger lever, until the trigger is released. Tom

I use a piece of eraser forced into an empty primer cup
 

as a snap cap.


When it wears out, just replace the eraser.


Hard ink erasers work best.

Gee guys, now I don't feel so stupid! However, this question was answered some time ago, and I forgot how to do it, as I restrain myself and only handle my Lugers once or twice a year. I am too busy fondling other things!

Any pictures of those??? (EOM)
