Were the same type of wood used on the the grip during the entire production.
 
I seemsthe wooden grips on my 1900 Test Luger has a more striking beauty, as my 1906 French luger and my 1920, 9mm Luger Carbine.Was this done intentonally the impress a potential buyer, like the inscribed Eagle. Or did a mere difference in finishes have anything to do with the result.

Beech was substituted for walnut on some of the Imperial Lugers. In my opinion, the beech wood is not too attractive.
