We have a class for those in Cowboy Action Shooting - Long Range Lever. 200-300 yds, target is a buffalo cutout about 24 inches high. Scoring is hits, then time. Choice of Black Powder of smokeless.

Cowboy up!

In it's way, it's a forerunner of the luger. The Winchester lever action inspired Hiram Stevens Maxim to design his Maxim machine gun, which in turn inspired Hugo Borchardt to come up with his pistol. The rest, as they say, is history.

I thought alcoholism was a prerequisite for gun collecting!??

Nice Winchester 1886! Vintage Winchesters are cool. I have a Model 1873 in .38 WCF and an 1892 in .25.20. Would love to have another one but I've been more focused on Lugers, P.38s and other WWII stuff lately.

I have a very early Swanstrom automactic pistol made in Sweden that loads through a loading gate and has a tube magazine like the Winchester.

I may be committing heresay on this forum, but that is a trade I would make anyday!!

I agree with Hugh... Nice Trade!!

trigger643 08-22-2007 04:33 PM

I was pretty happy with the trade too, the K date was matching #, but that was about the only thing it had going for it, having been heavily buffed. The case colors are all but gone off the receiver of this rifle, but the screws all appear unturned and the bluing is turning plume on the barrel, the bore is "fair"...
