Persian Artillery Luger For Sale

1 Attachment(s)
I am not the seller; however, there is going to be a nice looking Persian Artillery Luger for sale very soon on www.gunbroker.com

I purchased a DWM 1915 Artillery Luger from this seller, and I was very satisfied with the Luger, and his responsiveness and honesty.

So I thought I would share this information with other collectors.

I will try to attach one picture of it.

Hi Who is the seller..?

Mauser720 08-14-2007 06:59 PM

Hampel's Inc.; Traverse City, MI. It is a gun shop. The fellow I dealt with is named Joe

A long time Luger collector friend of mine once told that out of all the Persian Artillery Lugers he's seen only one was good. I hope this one is good for who ever ends up with it.

According to my 2002 edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values, there were 1,000 Persian Lugers each in the 4 inch and artillery barrel lengths, for a total of 2,000. I would have thought that the Farsi numerals would be very difficult to counterfeit.

Ron,
NOTHING is difficult to counterfeit. I wonder what Jerry Burney would say about the boot and its straps. They look too new to be authentic. The holster could be right. I can't say much about the LP-08 except that, from the picture, it looks better than a lot than I have seen. I would have to see more pictures.

Persian Luger Toggle Picture

I do not want anyone to think I am involved with the sale of this Persian Luger, but I will try to attach a picture of the toggle since someone said they wanted to see it.

Well, I tried to correct the spelling of the word "thing" to "think" and accidentally posted this twice. But you get the idea. I'm still learning.

Ron,
don't worry about making mistakes. Guys who don't make mistakes are guy who aren't trying. I once made a mistake. I think it was in 1973, but I could be wrong. Actually, you are well ahead of me because you are able to post pictures and I can't...yet. I got a new digital camera and software for Christmas and its still sitting in the boxes. Gotta find a ten year old kid to teach me how to use them. I am insanely jealous of people here who have posted great pictures on this forum with arrows and stuff to illustrate their points.

But to the point of this thread, your pictures are good in quality but insufficient in quantity to make a discision on a big ticket item such as a Persian rig. Tac's request was just one area that people would have to see to see if this item is legitimate. People here want to see lotsa pictures. Luger collecting can be very expensive if you make a mistake. There are a lot of counterfeit Lugers out there. This forum and Jan Stills forum are valuable schools for beginners as well as for dummies like me.

If I wasn't having problems with my motorhome, which was recently totalled on a trip to the Ohio Gun Collectors Assn, I would consider taking a trip out to Traverse City and look at this rig. Then again, since a certain Hollywood producer now lives in that community, it might now be a too dangerous a community to visit.

Big Norm, I am sure after you retire you could take the camera out of the box and spend an afternoon figuring it out.

DON'T RELY ON THE SOFTWARE THAT COMES WITH THE CAMERA IF YOU WANT TO EASILY CROP, RESIZE THE PHOTOS ETC. Yes, those were caps, it'll save you lots of time if you do it right and not CHEAP...

Mauser720 08-16-2007 09:25 AM

Tac -

No, you are correct. I would be afraid to spend this much money without seeing good photographs in advance too. However, I have another problem: I just do not know enough about these high-end specimens to know whether they are legitimate or not. Since I purchased one DWM 1915 artillery from this seller, he did ask me if I was interested in this Persian Luger too. So he did send me some more photographs before he ever listed it on www.gungroker.com. I would be glad to share these additional photographs with you, because I genuinely desire to learn more. If you would like to see them, it would be easier for me just to Email you the entire file. I seem to have a terrible time posting photographs, and I have a very slow telephone modem connection too. I would sincerely appreciate the benefit of your experience and insights, especially if you would like to see more photographs of this specimen. Or if you think I should try to post more here, please let me know what area or areas you would like to see, and I will try to post them.

Thank you, Ron

Joe H 08-16-2007 11:59 AM

Yes it does. I would be more than happy to send any of you pics. jhulet@hampels.net

Big Norm 08-16-2007 02:14 PM

See Ron, even Ed Tinkerbell picks on me. (name changed to protect me from reprisals). :D So don't be afraid to display anything or ask questions, even though I am posting this while hiding under my bed. :icon107:

Mauser720 08-16-2007 06:54 PM

Well, Joe is offering to send pictures of this Persian Luger to anyone and has also provided a link, etc. So it is not really necessary for me to attempt to post any more of them. However, just for the sake of an experiment, I would like to try attach a zip file of pictures to this reply. Let's see if I can do that.

Ron

Mauser720 08-16-2007 06:56 PM

Nope. It didn't work. So you will definitely have to check with Joe at his Email address or the link he so kindly provided. I just think it is an extremely interesting Luger.

Okay, here is another attempt to upload a group of pictures of the Persian Artillery Luger. I know of no other way to learn without trying. So let's see if this will work this time. Ron
