1917 DWM Artillery Luger no 53
I am interested in finding out about the history of the above pistol. Are there any records of issue to officers/regiments which are available for study?
|
Is "53" the serial number? Is there a letter suffix under the serial number on the front of the frame? My guess is that the only way one could determine anything about the history of this luger would be if it had a unit mark on the front grip strap. Otherwise, it's anybody's guess.

Brendan,
Doc's right. Any records of issue or to whom, have long since been destroyed. |
Unfortunately there are no letters or unit marks. However, it is in superb condition & shoots very well - more accurate than my upgraded sig sauer p226. Thanks for your help. It would have been interesting to find out some of the history associated with it but there is a real pleasure in simply owning it.
