1918 Erfurt grips RES marking?

Questions about markings on 1918 Erfurt Luger:

Grips numbered to gun by have large ERS stamped on inside of grip panels.

Markings on gun crown over "B"

Crown over J

smaller crown over "RC"

Can anyone help with an explanation?

Correction

"RES" is marked on inside of both grips - not "ERS"

Does this repesent a "Reserve" type unit?

Famous, rare, and quite valuable "Ralph E. Shattuck" inscribed grips...one-of-a-kind...:)

Since you don't own the pistol YET, I will offer this. Any out of the normal marks on the inside of the grips might very well be the initials of the G.I. who brought the gun home. Small randomly place individual letters are frequently found on the inside of grips and are thought to be manufacturing marks.

Unit identifying marks are always placed on the pistol where they can readily be seen.

They are not hand written, they are neatly stamped and are very large
