Greetings,

What is your opinion of this tool? I have my suspicions that it is a repro.

Thanks for your opinions.

4. Stamped Eagle 63.

Mike, The Germans did not use stamps that created a box around the eagle. This tool is as phony as they come. At least the stamp is phony. The tool itself looks that way too. Jerry Burney

Thanks Jerry!! I have never seen an Eagle 63 stamp like this one as well!

Most likely a reproduction. It looks too thick (should be 2.5 mm) and too roughly made and finished.

Mike, The swe/63 stamp in your second photo, looks like the ones on the Sarco repros, currently available. TH

Thanks again guys for this great forum and your feedback! Before the heyday of the web years ago, information on reproductions and fakes would take time to circulate. Thank goodness now we can pass information along immediately to quickly defeat the charlatans! The forum is especially great for novices such as myself. Fortunately, I did not have to pay for this tool!

Look at how thick this one is...

"Mauser" marking looks a bit off, as well...

And then check out this Navy one...

The E/63 is a repo. Never saw a navy marked tool with those marks on it. Not saying I have seen all of them.

Read the discription in the eBay offering for the navy, people will say anything to justify the sale.

The navy marked tool is a fantasy piece. The die that was used was one that came out of Europe in the 70's/80's and were sold in SGN. I have seen holsters and Mauser 1910/34 and HSc with same bogus marks.

This one looks too thick and I do not like the execution of the Imperial/Crown stamping...
