NIckel plated luger Mag
I have an all number matching 1940 Mauser made Luger that came with a nickel plated mag. The mag has a matching serial number stamped on it. Are nickel plate mages legit for a 1940 pistol?? Thanks for your help and info.

It's possible if the PO8 was in police use, as they added some nickeled Haenel Schmeisser marked mags to their guns on occassion. TH

Thanks for the info--I guess I should have indicated that the mag has stamped on it " Haenel Schmeisser Patent" I suppose if I ever found the matching mag it would be nickel also-----

Your supposition is probably not correct. Even a Police marked 1940 Banner (as opposed to your 42 code military) would have left the factory with 2 standard issue mags of the period. In 1940 it could have been either folded blue tubes with aluminum bottom or code 122 blued extruded mags. Your nickeled Schmeisser marked mags (any E/letter or */letter markings on it?) was probably numbered to the luger later by a police armourer. TH
