Ruger Bearcat old model problem

Hello All,
I have a 1950's era Bear cat .22 (non-converted) in about 90% condition in box with original papers. I thought I go out on the Fourth of July to shoot it a little with it's Big brother (also a 1950's non-converted) Ruger Single six .22, .22mag. Ok, this is the first time I have tried to shoot this gun before and I had a hard time getting the rounds into the chambers on the Bear cat. I used a bright bore lite to see what is wrong and about 1/16 of an inch or two into the breach of all the chambers looks like there is a ring??? that the rounds hang up on. This seems to be the only problem as the bores are prefect from the front and just pass the ring. I did not see this problem when I bought it(it was a very good price for $350). So, what can be done? Did someone shoot shorts or blanks in this gun you think? Is it save to shoot? It is a VERY NICE gun and I do not what to mess it up.
Any help will be nice.

Sorry for the long read

GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.

Michael

Hello Rick,
Thank you for your answer to this problem. I will try this and see if this will fix it. Yes I was shooting .22 standard Long Rifles. I did have fun with my shooter Luger 9mm (almost matching, just one part (trigger)is not same number).

Thank you again!
MG
