LPO8 accuracy

Recently, one of my customers complained that he was not getting the desired accuracy from his newly rebarrelled Artillery luger with original fine tune tangent rear sight. I'm just wondering if anyone, is actually getting any accuracy, with or without shoulder stock, using these weird original rear sights. Comments please, TH

The LP08 is a PISTOL, not a rifle.. I think your customer had unrealistic expectations about the accuracy. As a pistol is not that bad..

If he should complain about the design of the LP08, he would have to dig up George..

I usually shoot my arty at 50m, on that range im happy if I get within a radius of 15cm. To compare, three of my scoped rifles would go within a radius of 1,5cm at the same range.
..I guess that would make them 10 times more accurate than the LP08;)

(btw. my groupings with the stock is pretty much the same as without)

My 1917 LP08 with the stock attached will shread a gallon milk jug at 100 yds. With most shots keeping even tighter groups.

Tom,

With the 1917 LP-08 which I had for awhile I was capable of shooting (handheld) much more accurately than with a standard P-08, as long as fatigue didn't come into play--once my hand got tired and the barrel began to waver around accurracy went out thte window. I had to develop a trigger pull which held the pistol very still.

Of course it was characteristically accurate with a shoulder stock, but with a stock the sights came too close to my eyes and becamae much more difficult to use.

Lugerdoc:

It's probably the ammo, not the fine sights.

The inverted V sights are excellent for targeting, if you have excellent eyes. I've shot countless 1/2 inch 100 yard groups with my Mauser rifles with these style sights.

My LP-08 is as accurate as my 4 inch P-08. Over a sand bag, I can hold X ring at 50 yards with both of them. The LP-08, however, requires a slower powder and a much stiffer load to operate properly and accurately.

Hope this helps.

Sieger
