George Randall Gibson, 72, of Midland, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2007.
He was born April 2, 1935 in Northfield, Minnesota to George Randall Gibson and Orpha Olsen Gibson. Randall graduated from Midland High School in 1953, from Stanford University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics, and in 1959 from the Wharton School of Finance of the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Upon completion of his education, he was employed by the First National Bank of Midland for nine years. He then entered the oil and gas business, with which he was involved until his death.
Randall was an avid collector his entire life, and was an enthusiastic follower of auto racing, attending the Indianapolis 500 forty seven times. He authored a book titled, "The Krieghoff Parabellum", and maintained a collection of World War II era German Lugers.
Randall is survived by his daughters, Gina Carolyn Gibson, of Midland, TX; Suzanne Gibson Sloan, of Boulder, CO; his son, Tim Gibson, of Canyon Lake, TX; five grandchildren, and his brother, Richard Gibson, of Midland, TX.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 18, 2007 at Resthaven Memorial Park, with Reverend Steve Schorr, of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. To place online condolences please visit www.mem.com.
