1946 Mauser/Oberndorf documents
 

Hello Friends,
In the framework of my research about the last years of Mauser before the destruction (1946-1949) I was so lucky to find and buy these documents that I consider absolutely interesting and rare as well.

In fact when the French entered in Oberndorf they found French deportees working for Mauser. I kept in touch with a parent of Lucien Bertsch one of the French deported working in Mauser. He provided to me the following documents that belongs to him grand parent when working and living in Oberndorf after the deportation.
To me this set of documents is really fascinating because they give to us a picture of that period in Oberndorf and in Mauser. It is something that we do not see every day!

The first is the badge to work in Mauser, the second is a document from the Burgomaster of Oberndorf the third is the document released form the French Army to be repatriated.

The other documents describe the â??oppositeâ?�. I mean a German employer of Mauser that was continuing working in Mauser under French control. In one of this document is asking for one day of vacation to the chief of the personnel. The document written in French is a receipt for a new identity card and the last one is a receipt for a payment.

The blue paper bag is a paper used by Mauser to send items to customers for testing purposes.

Note that the language move from German to French, in fact Herr George Grieser asked for a new identity card, the receipt was written in French. This to underline that under the French occupation the French language was also used for administrative purposes.

I guess that this particular period of Mauser needs to be more investigated and I am spending energy to clarify it.

I really appreciate that friends speaking German can translate the back of the Mauser badge and the other German documents belonging to Lucien Bertsch.

The back of the pass states:
Identification for the Mauser-Werke A.G. at Oberndorf am Neckar:

(left) Identification notes:
(right) Attention!
1. This ID may not be given to persons who are not working for the company.
2. Loss must be reported to the management or the staff office immediately.
3. The ID must always be brought to work.
4. It only grants access to the company during work hours.
5. When the working relationship is cancelled, the ID must be given back to the staff office.
6. Giving the ID to unauthorised people can result in criminal charges.

Non-transferable! Keep safe!
Only valid in the area of the town of Oberdorf a.N. When lost no substitute will be given.

1. This document does not provide the right to claim goods.
2. The local food departement will notify which goods can be obtained with this pass.
3. When one relocates, dies, joins the wehrmach, etc... this pass must be returned.
4. Abuse of this pass is punishable by law.

It's a food pass which enables the keeper to get food or rationed supplies from the local food department. The pass gave the owner the right to have rationed materials in his possession and to get the rations from a distribution point. It did not guarantee rations, just the right to get them.

This appears to be the receipt for the taxes paid for rental of a small patch of land. It was not uncommon for workers to rent an keep a small patch of garden land where they could grow their own extra food.

The receipt shows that he paid 4 Reichsmark as some sort of tax over the book year 1945.
