Memorial Day
To all who have served this great country, all that serve today so far from home and in harms way.....my thanks
|
When I was in the army, we supported the American Cemetary in Margratten, the only US Cememtary in the Netherlands. We provided security, traffic control, etc., for the memorial day remembrance. I was very proud to help out at this importan place. I actually conducted my last enlistment here the day before Memorial Day, as it was a special place to me as a soldier.

Local homeowner in a nearby town of Lafayette, CA has this hillside display on-going during our current war. Thousands of folks drive by each day to/from work and cannot forget the sacrifices made and those still serving in harm's way.
He had quite a fight with local government about violation of obsecure signage rules & regulations in place. http://www.davidmendelsonphotography.com/ Somehow what started as a salute and tribute to those lost in Service of Country has now become a focal point for anti-war politics and gatherings. |
A couple from CA. stopped in the shop last week to look around. They asked the location of all cemetaries in the area. They were spending a month traveling the country putting flags at any and all locations of war dead. They were both retired military. He was a Marine Master Sgt. she had been a Forward Medical station Navy Nurse. Both were Vietnam Vets.
