1938 S/42 with pic and question

This is my matching 1938 S/42 (except magazines), serial no. 3882d that I'm very proud of. However the toggle pin is un-numbered and I'm wondering how much this affects the value. Comments appreciated. Thanks

I'm not a proffesional Luger collector by any means. But I have to say one nice looking Luger, and although the toggle pin isn't exaclty a matching one. It isn't "not" matching either. I imagine it would have some effect on the price.. But I don't think it would effect too much? Anyone else have some thoughts on this??

Ryan,

Unlike some parts on some Lugers which are not expected to be numbered, Luger rear toggle pins were required to be numbered after 1932, so the pin on this gun is not "proper" and therefore not matching, pure and simple.

By itself, it will also not have a serious effect on this gun's value.

I agree with what Dwight has stated, and also value. Although expected to be numbered, I don't think "replacement", i.e. armorer parts were numbered, nor marked with a number. Personally I'm not sure if I'd rather have a blank pin or a mismatched one in the toggle  I think a blank one...

Ed,

I think one should expect a military armorer installed replacement to be numbered as part of the installation.

ED, I have the correct #82 rear axel for your luger. Check your PM. TH
