Hi, this is my latest acquisition. The sellers father simply picked it up in the Mandelay Hotel in Jersey at the end of the occupation in May 1945. Around 15 German Officers had been billeted for the duration, when the liberating force came they simply left their personal field gear in their rooms and departed. This is one of the best I've seen.
It would be a good full matching piece other than the extractor is one digit out. The inner workings lack the complete bluing I see on my other Luger (byf '41) is this normal?
One of the two ammo boxes is unopened - These along with the matching 1937 holster (WaA142 C.Heinichen) I think makes for a good rig - what are your thoughts?

Hi Brendan,

Yes it is normal. The 1937s were the last Lugers to be rust blued. If I recall correctly, they started hot salt bluing them in April or May '37. So yours would date from early '37. A very nice 1937 S/42...

Hi Branden,

Beauty!! If you are afraid that you might open the other ammo box, you better send it to me for safe keeping.

Nice rig.

My thanks to those that offered an opinion - I'm grateful for your comments.
Ron - good to hear they didn't forget to finish the inner parts. I particulatly enjoy the rich strawing to the trigger & safety.

If I remove the grips - should I expect to see similar last 2 digits? mine are unmarked, however, it's unlikely these would have been swopped on this luger - could this be correct from original issue?

Does anyone have a suitable extractor # 64 and a takedown tool with the eagle over 63? top condition preferred although all considered.

Brendan:confused:

Lovely, very lovely. Don't open the ammo box. Untouched is fascinating.

Please don't change anything on the pistol! Leave it as it was found.
If a WWII weapon was found in non matching numbers condition don't try to make it a match. Original in my opinion is how it was found.

Fantastic condition also. Take good care of that collection.
