use your C&R via Fax or email...

This is intersting and one of the questions I asked a while back. It is legal to send a copy of your FFL to someone via a Fax, so therefor, it should be legal to send via email and the like. It was decided this is true.

If you are buying something, what advantage is there to faxing the license when the weapon will not be shipped until it is paid for. So why not send both the license and pament in the same envelope ??

I find that buy sending a current copy of my lic. to the major dealers like simpson's, FGS etc. It sure makes it easer when something I see that I want can be bought with a credit card. The item is then shipped out right away. Saving all the waiting time.

True, that.
Ever since the ruling over a year ago I've been sending my FFL (and subsequent updates) to dealers via email in the form of a PPF. It's a very handy thing to do when I'm out of town and want to make a purchase via CC. People have been taking emailed FFLs since they started accepting the faxed versions. :) |
Old fasshioned I guess. I still like hard copies of transmittal letters. As to Doug Smith, after it was renewed. I gave him a copy when I saw him in person.
Simpson, I would never pay by credit card because (as indicated on this board a bit back) they do not refund the credt card fee if the item is returned. As to others, I am either open account or I can usually negotiate a small reduction in the price when the seller does not have to pay the fee to the credit card company. |
I scanned a copy of the FFL where I have my guns sent to. I converted to to Adobe and I email it to the seller. This saves me from having to go to his shop and get another copy to send out.

Steve,
It's amazing how little some Dealer's know about ATF Regs. and they don't want to know or change. I work part time at a gun shop, and cannot convince the owner that the Regs. have changed. Also, he insists on signing FFL copies in black ink because someone along time ago told him that all official forms have to be made out with black ink. So far no one has returned one or refused to accept it , but I'm waiting for a chance to say I told you so. BTW, haven't been on my RK for awhile. Gonna go for a long ride today. :D Ron |
You're a smart man, Ron. I rode mine Sunday but only put about 75 miles on it. It was Mothers Day and I had dinner with Mom to do... :)
Keep your knees in the breeze... |
