Audley holsters

Well, today I came across these, felt I was getting a good deal, now I am unsure, and its my fault, as I bought and ran.

The first is supposedly for a 1911;

Value? Worth?

I think I paid too much, as I have looked at their condition since I got home(nothing extravegent...)

The 2nd is also an Audley and he "felt" it was for a mauser or other small automatic. The stitching is coming loose (easy for Jerry to fix) and there is a small cut in the bottom of the holster

Hi Ed..The first holster is for a four inch Luger no doubt in my mind. It is missing the bottom piece. These were manufactured for sales in the U.S. to accomadate the 1908 commercial Luger. I can find no reference to the second one pictured. It is definitly an Audley but Bender's book shows no reference. Again I'm sure Jerry Burney will have an answer for you .
Don't know what you paid but a four inch in good condition is worth 200 to 300 only because they are rare.

Leo, that is unexpected... I have been wanting a luger one and if it is for a luger, well, like bonus dude! :eek: :)

I paid $65 for it, and $60 for the other one. I talked to a friend and he said unless they were in awful shape that they were worth at least that.

The 2nd one I bought simply as trading material. Unless it is for a mauser like this guy thought, then it would be offered to a friend in Oregon with the initials of Ron Smith ;)

That retention clip will certain raise heck with the finish on your Luger's trigger guard...

yes, I have a luger I could "check" to see if it worked, but, uh..... its finish is worth a bit more than I paid for this holster :D

ED.......I owned a four inch Luger that had some serious "damage" to the trigger guard area and wondered how the heck that happened. That was my first introduction to the infamous Audley holster. Just anothewr "oddity" to the history of the Luger. They are uncommon, I have seen the six inch sell for well over four hundred.

Ed I do not believe your holster is for a luger. The barrel part of the holster is to wide. If you look at the pictures of them you will see how slim they are. I have mine on my desk now and they are very different. The luger Audley measures about 1 1`/4 inches at the tip. I believe your second holster is for a 1903/08 Colt. The more I look at your first holster...looks alot like a 1911. I have several Audley holsters and your prices look fine to me. They like everything else are rapidly increasing in price. Bill

he sold it to me as a 1911 Audley, so if it is, that is fine too. Thanks Bill

I have to go along with Bill, you got the straight info on it being for a 1911. It is easy to tell...a Luger is a strong 3/8" wider across the toggles than a .45 slide so a Luger won't go into a .45 Audley without distorting the holster (and maybe not even then). I have a 4" Luger Audley holster and, as Bill pointed out, it is much narrower for the barrel part. I think you did quite well price-wise.
