Why was this part modified?

While looking around the Luger-genesis website, I came across this strange toggle assembly. Can anyone explain why portions were cut out? Could it have been used in one of the cut-away pistols used for educational purposes?
I've never seen anything like this..... Dave in TN. |
Dave, Your best guess would also be mine. TH

Could be the missing section with DWM or Erfurt has been removed as a block to use as a pantograph engraving master, for boosting or renewal purposes.
another guess is to lighten the toggle train weight to increase lock time. |
Perhaps for some Sub-caliber Conversion ?

Cutaway, nothing else.

I agree with Dwight. It's from a cutaway for display or training.
