Odd Mark on 1913
Lyn Islaub sent me some photos of a nice 1913 DWM. He asked that if I couldn't identify the mark on the rear of the frame to post it on the forum. I'm stumped...any of you folks have any ideas?

Ron, This appears to be a styiize crown over S, but not the normal font of the standard Imperial inspector's mark. One might guess that this indicates acceptance or inspection at a non standard or foreign facility. As I recall many Swedish Lahti pistols have a crown/SS stamped in this location.TH

Ron,
In Costanzo's, page 206. A very similar mark identified as a Spandau triggerguard proof. Found on one 1918, on the front of the trigger guard. Maybe it's a Spandau Back frame proof, found on one 1913? I know it's not much help, but maybe it's a possibility. Ron |
Rons, Tom & Tac,
Thx for the input. I've poured through Costanzo and every other Luger based publication I could find trying to identify this mark and appreciate you taking the time to comment. Lyn |
