Navy marked pouch and navy marked tool
For those interested.
Navy marked double Magazine pouch http://cgi.ebay.com/German-Imperial-...QQcmdZViewItem Navy marked Tool http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tchlink:top:us |

I agree with George 100%....Just don't look rite.

The pouch looks legit but like George, I don't like it. Looks like the leather was wet and dried, finish looks painted. Hard to tell from a photo of course. These Imperial pouches are usually marked under the top flap. I can't recall ever seeing one marked in the front like this.
The tool appears almost double struck. I have several of these and they don't look like this one. Might be good but not something I am lusting after. Jerry Burney |
One distinctive aspect of Navy mag pouches that I have noticed is the peculiar stitching of the belt strap to the back of the magazine pouch. The stitching, while parallel, stops at different points on the center of the strap. This construction results in a situation that, if worn on a belt, the belt would pass through the strap diagonal to the strap resulting in the pouch being canted forward on the belt much as a holster does.
An additional concern is the lack of a maker's mark which should be present on all government acquired leather goods. I believe that this fellow's mag pouch is a dressed-up Portugese. |
