I would like to see photos as I don't know that I have ever seen an LP08 rod with a brass tip.

I have Navy rods with brass tips, but like my friend george, I have never seen an LP-08 rod with one.

In the big book by Eugene Bender on page 299, there are shown some LP-08 cleaning rods credited to the collection of Don Rousseau.

Several are written up as having brass tips and brass swivels...

BTW...here is one I own...thought it is/was a real, legit one with brass on the tip and swivel assembly.

Mine has the Imperial C/letter stamped in the wood on one end of the "beer barrel" as well.

Tom/ George...is mine a fake ???

so its wrong for a 1917 dated rig with a 1917 dated dwm gun?
any idear what it is worth?

I was lucky to find this cleaning rod and an Imperial marked TD tool in a really lousy holster that was on auction on eBay.

I emailed the seller to confirm the rod and tool were part of the auction and had the seller send me photos of the rod and tool before I bid.

The holster was pure rotten junk with no chance of resurrection. I sold /shipped the holster to Jerry B. for shipping costs of $ 12 only...hoping he might find a few parts worthwhile for repairs on other holsters in his shop.

The auction set me back $ 150...I thought a good deal/price for the rod and tool just by themselves.

I think folks on eBay "passed up" the holster offering as the photo made it look really, really terrible in condition.

Pete, Thanks by the way! I appreciate any holster I can find for parts! Nice rod! Jerry Burney

Looks to me like a very good piece.

I have come to observe that the LP-08 cleaning rods with a brass tip were typically provided with rigs (not all) which were dated from 1915 to early 1916. There is no standard rules for accessories such as cleaning rods because products/supplies were sometimes randomly mixed.

The cleaning rod above is genuine.

Congrats,
Albert

thanks albert
the rig it came with is dated 1917 on the holster and holster fixing leather and the luger is a 1917 ,with adjustable sights, dwm it also came with an imperial marked striping tool
