Trigger problem
 

I fired my Luger for the first time and ran into a problem:


1. Insert loaded mag
2. Work action, chambering round
3. Pull trigger
4. Gun fires
5. Gun ejects spent casing
6. Feeds next round
7. Pull trigger, but nothing happens. The trigger hasn't reset.

If I repeat step 2, it follows the sequence again. Since the trigger is rest during the first part of toggle motion and the gun does eject and feed properly, I'm lost as to what is wrong. Any suggestions on what to replace/fix?

got the same problem here man, dont know what the deal is, as far as i know, the dwm i have has a 3/4 round trigger, so you manually reset it by pushing forward, i dont know, and no g.s. i know of knows anything about them, thats why i joined the forum.

I wanted to clarify that if I dry fire it and work the action, the trigger works every time.

same here. is yours a 1918 d.w.m.? maybe its a deal with that model??

o.k. found a thread, it is in repairs, restoration, refinishing, started by thater, under the heading trigger sticks, this is the problem im having, i have a feeling that the answer is there. good luck.

Hello all. I have had similar problems with a luger in the past. I can't necessarily diagnose the problem without seeing your gun but in my case the trigger bar plunger became stuck in the trigger bar. The gun would fire then the trigger would not function.

The plunger can remain stuck in the trigger bar assembly due to thickened oil in the bar becoming the consistency of shellack. The fix I used is cleaning the well in which the trigger bar sits. First remove the trigger bar plunger retaining pin. Then soak the trigger bar in some penetrating oil to loosen the trigger bar plunger. May take 24 hours. Once the trigger bar plunger is released, remove the plunger and then clean the plunger, plunger spring and plunger well thoroughly. After cleaning assure removal of the penetrating oil. Lightly lubricate, then reassemble the trigger bar plunger spring and trigger bar plunger into the trigger bar, insert the trigger bar plunger retaining pin, test the smooth funtion of the trigger bar plunger, reassemble the pistol. Test the trigger function and then off to the range. I hope this helps. Best of luck with it.
