Barrel Removal
Opinions please - what is the best way to remove a barrel. I am building a "fun to shoot" luger, and I may want to try different barrels.

SKG, Unless you have a proper barrel wrench and a good hydralic vise with brass adapters cut for the shape of the luger barrel, I don't recommend that you try changing barrels yourself. Also head spacing guages and chamber reamer may also be necessary, particularly if you are installing a Numrich made barrel. TH

I echo Tom Heller's (lugerdoc) remarks... without the proper tooling, there is a great chance you will damage the upper receiver... If yours is a parts gun, and of no collector value... then you only have your investment to lose... If I were you, and I were still a machinest, I would spend my time making the barrel / receiver wrench and vise... it would be a wise use of your time if you intend to change barrels more than once.
