My new 1906 American Eagle

My new 1906 American Eagle. Came with an M2 Portuguese Holster, commercial cleaning rod, loading tool and pin punch. Thought I would share with you. Randy

Neat! What is the truncated cone 7.65 round, DWM? Looks like the serial number is in the 26,000 range...a nice early one. Gotta love these classic Lugers.

Ron
Yes its a DWM round. If I am not mistaken, according to Kenyon there were only about 750 of these lugers produced. I don't know if this still holds true or not. The serial number is 26162, and according to Kenyon, the serial number range is 25100 to 26500. Randy

Randy,

The 1906 AE range goes clear into 69000. What is noteworthy about your Luger, and what Kenyon is referring to, is the GESICHERT marked safety on your Luger. Most 1906 examples have a polished area instead.

The serial number range for this safety mark extends from at least 25184 to 26740. There is no way to verify Kenyon's actual total estimate.

Hi Craig,

Congratulations on a wonderful $ 1500 score. The Portuguese rig alone is worth over $350-400...so your Luger price is even better !

BTW...there is a M1906 AE discussion occuring over on Jan Still's gun boards...centered around whether the "germany' stamping on M1906's should or should not display the halo-effect (or maybe both conditions are correct and proper).

http://luger.gunboards.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11003

From the front-view photo of your Luger, it appears your gun has the halo along the "germany" stamping.

Could you take a closer look and confirm this ?
