Interesting Black Widow I saw.
Hey guys,
I saw an interesting Black Widow for sale at a local gun show. It was an all matching byf. I noticed the side plate was stamped with 2 numbers I forget what they were, but then the letter "S" was stamped becide it. I remembered a similar question on a different post. Is the "S" indicating a Mauser replacement part? And I thought mauser replacement parts were stamped "S 42" or "42 S". Did they have a range of numbers for the replacement parts? Also, the luger had the Black plastic grips but they had a circle shape towards the top in the middle of the grip. Am I losing my mind, or did someone say that, that was a post-war replacement part? Also it had the "X" by the serial number, is this a deffinet Russian capture or did other countrys use this symbol aswell? Thanks Guys. |
That sounds like an East German rework/reissue. There might be some other inspection marks stamped on it also.

Rylan, The grips are DDR and the side plate is probably from a K date (1934) PO8. Sound like a DDR rework. TH
