Luger for sale locally, what should I look for?

I'm visiting NC and have been stopping at pawn shops along the way. Today I walked into one and they had a luger for $275. It was a .22lr model. Having been the first time I've held one I had no idea what to look for. The only problem I saw right away was the safety lever was loose. It wouldn't click into place, everytime you pushed it up, it just fell back down. When I went to **** it, the firing pin would stick through the front of the bolt when the toggle was pulled all the way back. What else should I look for? Are these problems easy fixes?

weasel_master, was it a Luger with a conversion kit, or was it a copy from ERMA? I have two ERMA and one WWII conversion kit and all of them work great with High Velocity Ammo. Standard Velocity Ammo will cause problems. Spareparts for ERMA are meanwhile rare to find. I heard. that CDS (Carbine Discount Shop, owner is Mr. Ehrenreich) in Germany, bought up the whole rest of ERMA.

It may also be a Stoeger .22 "Luger". I doubt anyone would sell a real Luger with a conversion kit in it for under three bills.

If this is a Stoeger, $275 seems a tad high, IMHO, especially if the safety lever is loose...

There's also a Stoeger .22 cal. Luger which goes for about that much on all the gun auction sites, and don't have any problems.

It probably is a Stoeger "Luger" and is $275 worth of grief. They are not all that well made and really not worth repairing.

I am in agreement with Ron. It will turn out to be a PIA...

That's what I figured. I set it down shortly after handling it.

Weasel_master,
just to perfectly satisfy yourself, why not look on some of the big name auctions, like GunBroker and others, and see if you can find something like the one you were looking at. Use the names supplied above. That would put the finishing touch on your curiousity.

Here's an Erma for $175 and no bids so far... :)
