Looking for part shooter

I am looking for a pistol to shoot. How much should I pay for a parts luger like this one? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?Item=66663561 Thanks Brushy SE Okla.

Hi Brushy,

I'm no expert, just a novice really, but I've been looking at the lower end of the spectrum of guns to purchase and that doesn't look bad for a shooter price. That is, if it would function well. I paid more for my first Luger, but it is a good shooter and was well worth the money. I paid too much probably, but I knew it was an honest gun.

Hugh has a police rework I've been eyeing for sale at $825 under the trader section of this board. The benefit is that he offers to fire a few rounds through it for you before you buy, so you know what you are getting. Also, it is unit marked, which gives it some historical significance. After watching the boards for around 6 months I can tell you Hugh is honest and very much respected, so the extra cost would be well worth it to me, and I'd buy that gun if I could talk my wife into it right now.

Where are you? I live in Norman. PM me if you like. Jay Jones

Here are two more points of reference: Recently I paid $600 for a nice, numbers matching shooter with straw, repro magazine, and original grips missing hold open. I paid $521 for a similar gun, also with numbers matching, but with repro grips and an original magazine.

Hi, I just picked up a matching 1920 Commercial, 60 % original finish with minor pitting, straw turing dark, bore good, grips nice with safety chip missing, 7.65 (.30 cal.), repro magazine, pictures on request. I got it for trade stock but would take $520 plus shipping for it. It is a good tight solid pisol. Doug B.

vtwoodchuck I had rather have 9mm due to the cost of ammo.
Thanks for the offer. Brushy SE Okla

SE:

I've only recently purchased them and plan to give one to my dad. Mine are proof that $500-600 Lugers are out there.
