Police ~~ rig
 

Well, not a rig in the normal sense, but bought this luger, then was offered the weimar police bayonet later (no scabberd). They were about kissing cousins in the police armory.

The luger started life a navy luger, (see 1916 on the left) and then was refurbished by the Reichswehr, date stamped 1920 and served in the weimar police, receiving a sear and a magazine safety.

It is police unit marked S.W.I 1036 and the Weimar Police bayonet is marked S.W.I. 807

I have a 1917 Pattern U.S. Navy Cutlass with that same makers mark on it.

Outstanding pair! The S.W.I. markings indicate these belonged to the Schupo of Frankfurt am Main.

The photo of the grip strap is kinda fuzzy but it looks as if there was and earlier marking. Any idea what it was? I think I see an S and an M.

thanks guys. Don, I assumed it was a navy marking, but that might not be the correct placement of a navy marking.

Ed, I have a record of one Luger holster that was originally marked S.Mg.85. and later S.W.1205. Maybe your pistol also was transferred from the Magdeburg district.
