luger magazine marks

What do the + marks mean on the aluminum base piece on the magazine? I have one that is marked with the serial no. and a waffen 63 or 83 and it has a single + on it. I have looked through a couple of luger books, but have found no reference to this mark. I believe that I have seen some magazines with two or three of these + marks. Just trying to learn more about these beasts. Thanks, for any info. barr44

+ means second or spare magazine. I have never seen one with more than one +, it is possible you are confusing the suffix you have seen with a +.

a police mag would have a 1, 2 or 3
meaning; 1 = primary, 2 or 3 as spare magazines....

Bar44. ive only been into the luger world fof 3 or 4 mo,s. and i own one luger, but on my mag. it also has the + and the 63. i was looking at a book named Luger, and there was a pic. of a mag. with these same marking,s, the book said the + stood for the extra mag. that came with the gun?
im sure one of experts here well get us both stright on the +. LB.

Thanks guys for the replies,
Just having been introduced to the luger family, I find that as with other guns that I've collected that these forums are much more educational that all of the books in the libraries. I've picked up a couple of books on lugers, but finding the time to read them seems to elude me. This seems to be the place for quality luger information and friendly service.
I suppose that most of my problem is that I find most all firearms interesting and I can't just settle on one particular firearm. I do try to stay with the european firearms, but sometimes I go astray in my collecting frenzy. Thanks again, and stay tuned, as I'm sure I'll have more requests, barr44.
