Iâ??m not sure I understand what the generally accepted definition of a â??bad Lugerâ?� is.

Because Iâ??m new to this sort of thing and not a serious collector, I only have a few rules that I currently go by.

I wouldnâ??t want to own a Luger that had been so abused by a wire wheel on a bench grinder that no straight edges remained. Nor would I want to own a gun that had been so amateurishly restored or customized that it couldnâ??t be rescued.

I wouldnâ??t want to own a gun that was extremely rare but otherwise nothing more than a rusted and pitted piece of scrap metal.

I wouldnâ??t want to own a gun that I couldnâ??t shoot.

I wouldnâ??t want to own a gun that I knew was stolen, even if I could buy it â??under the radar.â?�

I wouldnâ??t want to own a gun that I later found out was misrepresented to me at the time of sale. But as they say in Latin, â??Caveat venditorâ?¦â?�

Iâ??m sure I have other criteria, but this is all that comes to mind at the moment.

Dave, the point of this is for the experienced collectors to point out blatant error and omissions in online auctions and other venues. In your words, I would like to have new collectors not have to worry about "Caveat Emptor":D

I am of the mind to say no. Not because it is not a good idea, but I think this forum may get the reputation of being the Luger Police or perhaps worst. Someone had suggested possible legal ramifications if forum members were to flame a seller's product. In this day and age I would not put it past anyone to try, however, I still think it highly unlikely.
I like the way it is done now. It provides a valuable service but not presume to monitor everyone's Luger sales activity. Many of you still post warnings about the latest Goering presentation pieces. It is both useful and informal, and on many occasions humorous. I think we all come here to learn and to have fun of a sort. A bad Luger section may invite an undesirable element into the forums that may damage the reason we all come here.

I would say no. I value all the luger forum members opinions,but in some cases that is what it is , an educated opinion. Valuable yes positive maybe. I'm not sure we want to be the luger police. We could be wrong and do damage to a seller. I rather like our present system,where we ask questions ,get answers and above all learn. Just my thoughts. Bill

I would be against this also. Do to unforseen circumstances or just attitudes and personality clashes. This could lead to a very nasty situation involving very honest and forthright sellers. The written word, as evidenced here on the forums, can be misconstrued and result in a total misunderstanding.
