An Introduction

Greetings to my new friends. Although I registered some time ago, I haven't been able to participate until now. I am quite familiar with firearms in general, but my primary interest has always been American weapons. My knowledge of Luger esoterica is limited. I hope to learn a lot here.

My interest in Lugers stems from my father's Luger, the first gun I ever held. I will post the story behind it in the appropriate sub-forum.

I look forward to the cameraderie of this forum.

Thank you for the welcome, gentlemen. Although I registered quite a while ago, I have been preoccupied since then by the care of my elderly mother.

I would like to tell the story of my father's Luger. It appears to be a standard German-made, 1930's (?) manufacture, four inch barrelled, 9mm model. But the story behind it is, I feel, worth the telling. Which forum might be appropriate?

this part of the forum, as i can always move it if it becomes obvious as a commercial or military model.

See this chart http://www.lugerforum.com/IDsheets.html to really fill it out correctly.

Unlikely, Dante. I was born in Bangor, but moved around a lot as an Army brat. I spent most of my adult years as a grunt in the movie business in Hollywood. My wife and I moved to Maine almost two years ago to care for my elderly mother.

We currently live in Hampden. My late father's side of the family is from your neck of the woods, up in Madison and North Anson. I have only attended one show here, the Bangor Gun Show. My cousin is one of the main organizers of the event.

I do hope to cross paths with you someday, and I consider all the members of this forum to be new friends.

I will post the story of my father's Luger (now mine) in a new thread in this sub-forum soon.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Welcome indeed C.C. Sounds like you have found yourself a new home... I hope you enjoy the company here... I have read your story about your Dad, it's a great story and a great Luger. I vote with those who say to leave it as your Dad customized it... it is handsome and a piece of his personal history... My own father's Luger is no where near as nice looking, but I treasure it just the same... He was my hero... Honor him by making sure his Luger never leaves your family.
