Value Needed for trade: 1914 DWM

I just traded for this Luger. Trying to establish value as we have not finalized the trade since the value of the pistol is not known. Any help would be greatly appreciated:

Markings:
DWM
1914
5085b
Proof Marks on right side
Importer marked on right side
The number striked out and restenciled is strangely enough both 85, same for the take down lever.

Condition is OK, I don't know anything about luger's so it's not my place to call it bad or good. It functions flawlessly, albeit the trigger is horrid. The barrel is pitted throughout but it is still plenty accurate. All the small parts that have a number on it is 85. Parts that do not have a number includes the sear bar and spring.

Here is an overall picture.

Welcome to the forum, I see pistols like yours selling for $400 to $600 as shooters in my area depending on who has them and who wants them. Good luck with the trade. clint

That seems to me to be a high $$$ number for an imported Luger that has a pitted barrel and crossed out original numbers, even if considered only a shooter. I don't claim to be an expert.

If you can get that value in a trade, go for it. Good luck.

I will buy any shooter I can find for $350 especially if it has a good FXO mag like that one looks like it has in it. :)

boy, if I could find $350-$400 lugers, I'd max out my credit card on them...

I never see them for less than $550 and that is usually pretty bad of shape...

I'll take a few of those $400 ones you find after your card is maxed.
My neck of the woods it's more like $600.
And most of them are rough as a cobb.

Peter,

The electropencil number on the trigger plate is characteristic of pistols reworked by the East Germans. To my mind the $600 figure people are mentioning here fall into the high side of a good trade.

I've noticed "Shooter" prices are VERY high in my area. Even online dealers seem to be asking a premium for RC & missmatched guns. I'm with you Ed, I'd max my Card out too!... Oh wait.. maybe I allready did that ;)

Stripped down for parts and sold on ePay, you could probably make out better financially than trading. Some of the parts go for big bucks.

Then again, maybe a new barrel or relining and a "tune up" would make a very good shooter. That's my .02 cents worth.

Guys

I guess based upon the responses I stand corrected on the price of a shooter in the above described condition. As I said, I am not an expert on imported shooters in that condition. The FXO mag is nice.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I have decided not to go through with the trade as the person that owns the pistol have nothing else he wishes to add to the trade. My end was an SPR upper for an AR which is worth, apparently, at least twice that of this Luger.

I really do wish to own a good example and he said he'll be coming into possession of another clean example in the future. Here's holding out hope. I'll be visiting these boards and if serendipity strikes, maybe I'll get one from here.

Hi tac

I see you list UK as one of the places you live........

Are you talking UK govt?

My experience is it now harder to get stuff out of the USA.........
