Just Curious
I have a mismatched shooter that my wife gave me over 30 years ago. She knew I wanted a Luger and bought it at a local gunshop for $150. Not bad for a shooter today but probably high then.
It has a 1918 Erfurt upper, all matching except for the sideplate. My question is about the lower or grip unit. It is marked P08 on the left flat and other than the serial number and has what appears to be a variation of a E suffix as shown in the suffix 1 chart. It has a typical lanyard loop and stock lug. What is the likely origin or year of production of the grip? Or is this enough information? thanks Tom |
Tom,
This is not much to go on, posting photos would help. The P-08 stamp suggests that it is a Mauser frame. The Mauser frame has a slight "hump" on the otherwise flat vertical surface above the lanyard. KFS |
Tom,
P-08 was stamped on the frames of Mauser-manufactured Luger pistols in 1941 and 1942, --Dwight |
Thanks for the replies..I suspected that the frame was later or WWll production because of the machine marks. It sounds like I have a good candidate for a Thor restoration.

Tom,
* If an "e" suffix block frame or even an "L" marked one...both would be 1942 vintage. Respectfully, Bob |
