Glue for cracked grips
Well, I managed to crack a wooden grip dismantling a gun with which I am unfamiliar... not a Luger.
Fortunately the edges fit together perfectly and after repair should not show at all, but rather than just do what I always do (yes, I've done the same dumb thing before), I thought I'd ask you guys what glue you prefer to use to repair cracked wooden grips? |
David,
I like using the yellow Elmer's wood glue for carpenters. The key is to wipe off any excess with a damp rag before it dries. I let things dry for 24-hours. I also use this making Japanese shoji screens. As an experiment, I have tried to break a glued and cured joint. The wood will splinter all around the glued joint, but not the joint itself... |
Thanks, that's what I' ve used in the past, but I had my doubts.
