Question about fluted (or relieved) Firing Pins
All,
I have searched this forum (as well as the "other" one) and perused my Luger books I have been unable to find any information as to what date the fluted firing pins were introduced. I have the notion that they first appeared on Mauser manufactured pistols. Were these firing pins introduced as repair parts or were they introduced as part of Simpson or Mauser serial production pistols? If anyone knows (or has any educated guesses) I would be pleased to hear from them. Regards, Jon Lewis |
Jon According to Costanzo they were introduced in 1923. According to Walter in 1934. Should make for an interesting discussion. Bill

Jon, I don't recall the Simson PO8s having relieved FPs, but have seen many reworks of WW1 lugers, that did. I would GUESS, that these were done in the 1930s. TH
